Summer is Upon Us
It’s crucial to stay hydrated and take care of our skin. Unless we've gradually acclimated our skin to the sun with morning exposure, it's essential to be cautious. Vitamin D is important, but so is avoiding sunburn.
This year, I've been trying out early sun exposure, letting my eyes absorb some UV rays as the sun comes up. Studies have shown that when our eyes are exposed to early morning sunlight, our skin produces its own natural protection for later in the day.
I've also been experimentiong with removing seed oils and am now researching methylene blue. It's been shown to absorb UVA and UVB rays, and it also helps repair DNA damage. There are some fascinating studies coming out about its role in cell repair. Has anyone else tried this? I'd love to hear your experiences!
Another summer favorite is aloe. It’s versatile; you can use it externally on burns or you can take it internally. In Ayurveda, aloe is used to soothe internal heat. If you've eaten spicy food that's upset your digestive system, or have a “burning sensation” internally aloe can help calm here as well.

Ayurveda offers some great and delicious recipies for the summertime. Let your food and beverages be your meicine. One of my favorites is hibiscus tea. I love to drink it cold during the hot months, so I brew it and keep it in the fridge for a refreshing drink throughout the day. It's high in antioxidants and has a pleasantly tart taste, similar to lemonade. You can sweeten it with your preferred sweetener if you like. I also add Himalayan salt to mine to up my electrolyte intake throughout the summer.

Have a lovely July and enjoy the warmer weather!
I'll be away for a few weeks mid July and then back before the last week . During that time, I'll be teaching with Mandola Yoga, but still have a few openings for appointments. Otherwise, I'll return to my regular schedule in August.
Happy Summer,
