If your struggling with digestion try this simple test.

Digestion : lets start with digestion as a starting point. Try the beet test to rule out low stomach acid. It can have a multitude of effects and impacts: including sensitivities or bloating .The experiment: eat or drink beats, try for 1 large or 2 small and not the pickled kind as they are already broken down by the fermentation process. Notice if there is any colour excreted through your urine or feces. If so what’s happening is low stomach acid: which means that pigment is not being broken down and other nutrients as well. if this is the cause of the bloating and inconsistent food reactions it can be a relatively easy solution. the quickest method is to supplement with HCI before each meal, this will increase your stomach acid and support your body to be able to absorb the nutrients needed to make your own. the approach is to first figure out how much you need: start with 1 tablet before each meal, then up to 2 tablets: if it starts to burn as you eliminate you have reached your upper limit , back down again and stay at this does for a minimum of 2 weeks. then go off for a few days and retake the beet test. Betaine HCI is the supplement and can be found in most supplement stores in Calgary. If yo log into your account I’ve included a link if you would prefer to buy online

Eat or drink 1/2 – 1 whole beet..continue eating  and drinking the way you normally would. Do not use pickles beets they are already broken down so do not provide an accurate reading.

Once consumed wait to see if your urine or fecal matter show any colour. This is called beeturia. And can occur in people with low stomach acid. A healthy level of stomach acid helps your body absorb minerals, nutrients, and vitamins including the colour of the beets.Because low stomach acid can make it difficult to digest and absorb nutrients, your body may have trouble metabolizing the red pigment in beetroot. So, you may notice red or pink urine or fecal matter after you eat beets or drink beet juice. Other signs of low stomach acid include bloating, burping, gas, and constipation.
Next step would be to stop any antacid and instead work to increase stomach acid and thus the secretion of enzymes from the pancreas and absorbtion of nutrients.

This can be done in two ways through food by eating naturally fermeted food like kimchi or saurkraut and adding apple cider or white vinegar to your daily diet before meals. In salad or by diluting 2 tsp in a glass of water. Make sure you rinse your mouth right away or use a straw the acid is not good for your teeth enamel.

The most efficient way to ensure consistancy would be to purchase a digestive enzyme with HCI at your local health food store.
Protocall :  start by taking one capsule before each meal, if you don’t notice a difference during the first two days, up the dosage. Until your elimination feels ‘burny’ then drop the dose down. With the pill protocall the dose can vary between people, and the length of time needed to correct the in balance in absorbtion. What is happening internally is that by fully breaking down your food you are restoring your bodies ability to create its own acid. Over time. For some people this can sometimes take a month or longer depending on how long this has been occurring .

By increasing your stomach acid you are able to properly absorb nutrients re establishing your bodies own ability to create stomach acid .

After a few weeks try the beet test without an enzyme and once again notice if any colour makes its way out of your body. If the answer is yes, then continue on the protocal and experimenting every 2-4. weeks.
